Darwin Roy has a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Masters in Educational Administration, both from the University of Saskatchewan. He started his position as Executive Director on March 13, 2018.
His portfolio is to represent the University of Saskatchewan to ensure strong, positive, mutually beneficial relationships and community presence that enhances the University’s reputation, while building awareness of its purpose and presence.
What Darwin likes best about his job is the chance to make a difference in communities in a positive way on behalf of the University. The potential to increase/enhance quality of life through education, learning and innovation is what drives him to do his job to the best of his ability. He affirms how motivating it is to be part of an organization where we are not only building relationships and engaging communities but we are also helping people realize and build their goals and dreams. He credits his educational background and his many years of experience in public relations for positioning him to better understand the complex dynamics of higher education and the educational processes at the University of Saskatchewan.
As an ASPA member, Darwin values the support and services available to members. He also appreciates the ASPA-sponsored learning opportunities and social activities that give him the chance to network and meet new people. He is confident as a University of Saskatchewan employee knowing that he has an organization like ASPA to represent his best interests in the workplace.
Darwin strongly advocates that ASPA members take the time to get to know what is in the ASPA Constitution and the ASPA Collective Agreement and to go out and meet the ASPA Executive. If he could give one piece of advice to all ASPA members it would be, “know what is there for you and who is there for you!”.
