Holiday greetings to all ASPA members! My name is Rob Procyk, and I am the new president of ASPA. I joined the ASPA Executive as a vice-president in May 2025, and I assumed the role of president in November after our former president, Adi Manek, stepped down from the role after obtaining a new position at the university. I would like to personally thank Adi for his exemplary work ethic and enthusiasm as president.
His strength, wisdom, and innate kindness are the hallmarks of a great president, and we wish him the best in his new position. Luckily, Adi will remain as a member of the ASPA Executive, and I look forward to continuing working with him this year!
I became an ASPA member in 1998. Since 2005, I have been the Operational Lead of the Prince Albert Campus. I am proud to see the evolution of growth in the University’s programming in Prince Albert over the past twenty years, and I am especially proud to be the first member of the ASPA Executive to work at a location outside of Saskatoon. On a personal note, I am a married father with four children, a cat magnet, a music and book lover, and a closet writer of personal essays. I am active in my community, serving on the Board of Prince Albert Family Futures, the Prince Albert Food Coalition, the Prince Albert Shelter Neighbourhood Engagement Table, and I volunteer with the Calvary Emergency Food Bank and Reaching Out Street Outreach. As well, I am an executive member of the Prince Albert Northcote NDP association as well as the Prince Albert Federal NDP association. I have a keen interest in social and human justice and the rights of workers.
I am honoured to serve our members and to be collaborating with an outstanding executive and our two outstanding vice presidents Candice Pete Cardoso and Alexis Dahl. We are also so fortunate to collaborate with our excellent staff, our Member Services Officer Shayne Meggs and our Financial and Administrative Assistant, Angeline Hainstock. Together, we strive to improve the working lives of our membership and to contribute to ensuring that the University is a wonderful place to work. Know that the ASPA team is here for our members. Please reach out with any concerns, issues, or comments. I wish you an incredibly happy and restful holiday season and I look forward to collaborating with you in the coming New Year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at robert@aspasask.ca or the ASPA office at aspa@aspasask.ca.
In solidarity,
Robert Procyk, ASPA President
