ASPA is proud this year to sponsor the reissue of buttons from Neil Richards’ collection sexual and gender diversity.
The University of Saskatchewan Archives and Special Collections contains many original buttons related to 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and activism, and once again has chosen to reissue four buttons that are still relevant to issues the 2SLGBTQIA+ community faces today.
For more on the Neil Richards’ collection, watch this video on queer Saskatchewan history and check out this guide to the resources available in the University Archives and Special Collections on Sexual and Gender Diversity.
As a union, ASPA is committed to building and supporting an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workforce. If you’d like a button, visit your ASPA office at 302 and 304 Kirk Hall.Continue reading

Spring has (hopefully) sprung by the time you’re reading this, and with it comes a noticeable shift in the rhythm of the university. As a large portion of the student population heads off until the fall, campus activity changes. While faculty presence is reduced, many of us remain, recognizing as well that this is a popular period for members to take vacation.
The work of ASPA continues, however, as a new Executive prepares to take on leadership of the association, and I look forward to working closely with them.
I want to take a moment to share an important reminder that may be helpful for members. I am not an employee of the university. I report to the ASPA President and, by extension, the ASPA Executive. If this season gives you the time, space, or inclination to raise concerns, I strongly encourage you to reach out for a conversation. Discussions with me are not shared with the employer. USask Labour News The world of labour relations on campus is an exciting place. Different unions on campus are engaged in exciting work, and are all pushing to improve working conditions for workers across campus.
ASPA For ourselves the two big pieces of news would be first the January transition of Online Instructors (now called Online Facilitators) back into ASPA. This was a massive undertaking that included the work of many individuals. We are excited to have these positions back within ASPA.
No labour news discussion would be complete without once again highlighting that bargaining with the university is about to begin. Continue reading

For ASPA member, Charlene Brown, the journey through higher education has been anything but linear, and that’s exactly what makes her story so compelling.
Since joining USask in 2012, she has grown through a variety of roles, each one building toward her current position as Director of the International Student and Study Abroad Centre (ISSAC). Today, she leads with both experience and purpose, helping shape how the university supports students in navigating global opportunities. Continue reading
