USask Labour News
The world of labour relations on campus is an exciting place. Different unions on campus are engaged in exciting work, and are all pushing to improve working conditions for workers across campus.
ASPA
For ourselves the two big pieces of news would be first the January transition of Online Instructors (now called Online Facilitators) back into ASPA. This was a massive undertaking that included the work of many individuals. We are excited to have these positions back within ASPA.
No labour news discussion would be complete without once again highlighting that bargaining with the university is about to begin.
CUPE 1975
The Union at CUPE1975 has recently ratified a new collective agreement covering the years 2025 to 2028. We congratulate them on completing this round of collective bargaining.
CUPE 3287
This Union, CUPE 3287, is currently at the bargaining table. We wish them every success as they advocate for improvements and fair outcomes on behalf of their members.
PSAC LOCAL 40004
PSAC has negotiated a new collective agreement for the Postdoctoral Fellows and Research Associates covering the years 2024 to 2028. Local 40004 also represents graduate students on campus through a separate collective agreement that was signed last year and is set to expire in 2027.
USFA
Although hard at work fighting for their members, they are not presently bargaining a new collective agreement
St. Thomas Moore College Staff (CUPE)
Although not a group of employees that bargain with the university, they do work here on campus. Last summer the staff at STM took a major leap and voted to unionize for the first time. Presently they are awaiting a ruling from the labour board on some outstanding matters related to their certification.
Note: Faculty at STM is unionized under their own faculty association.
