International Day of Mourning

Hello ASPA members,

April 28th is recognized as International Day of Mourning, and is held as a day to remember and honour workers who have been killed due to workplace accidents, made ill by occupational diseases, and injured by unsafe working conditions. ASPA stands together in solidarity with all workers to demand safe workplaces, and renew our commitment to advocating for continual improvement of occupational health and safety. Every worker deserves to return home safely to their loved ones at the end of each day.

Labour Councils around the province have organized events related to the International Day of Mourning. If you are able to, we encourage you to support and attend the event in your area:

  • Saskatoon & District Labour Council – Vigil and wreath laying at Civic Square (222 3rd Avenue North), April 28th at 11:00 am
  • Regina & District Labour Council – Vigil and wreath laying at Queen Elizabeth Court II (2476 Victoria Avenue; in the event of inclement weather, the ceremony may move to the Regina Union Centre, 2709 – 12th Avenue, downstairs meeting room), April 28th at 4:00 pm

In solidarity,

Your ASPA Executive
